Tom Uber joins Select Sires Member Cooperative

Select Sires Member Cooperative (SSMC) is pleased to announce the addition of Tom Uber to the SSMC team. As a Genetic and Reproductive Advisor in western Pennsylvania, Tom will serve as a key consultant and strategic partner to dairy producers. He will also work with sales staff focusing on enhancing reproductive efficiency, profitability, and genetic performance within customer herds. This area of the Keystone state is served by Steve Moff who is introducing Tom to his customers as he begins his transition into retirement at the end of the year. Steve leaves a legacy after 41 years of dedicated service to the cooperative’s member-owners.

In this role, Tom provides expert-level guidance and insight through Select Reproductive Solutions® (SRS), Select RePRO Analysis, Optimal Genetic Pathways (OGP), CowManager®, Select Mating Services® (SMS), and other herd management technologies, while supporting the full portfolio of Select Sires Member Cooperative’s genetic services and products.

Tom has years of experience working with dairy producers as a nutritionist and salesperson, always with a goal of helping his clients become more profitable. Additional experience was gained working at Minor Acres LLC and Arethusa Farm LLC, caring for top-quality dairy cattle. Also, he was a subcontractor for the Pennsylvania Holstein Association where he assisted with private treaties and consignment sales. Tom has also spent time as a self-employed cattle fitter, preparing animals for regional and national shows. Those skills were beneficial when he interned for Select Sires Inc. as he prepared cows for professional photographs that were used in marketing pieces.

In his free time, Tom has volunteered as a 4-H leader, where he has mentored dairy youth for over 23 years. He has also coached Little League for seven years. Tom’s other volunteer commitments include Pennsylvania Holstein Association, Crawford County Holstein Association, and his local fair committee. He and his family raise registered show cattle under the Ubercrest prefix.

“We are excited to add Tom to the SSMC team. As someone who has raised dairy cattle himself, he relates well to our member-owners and his diversified connections in the dairy industry will be beneficial as he serves dairy producers in western Pennsylvania. We look forward to bringing his experience in the dairy industry to our customers,” shared Chris Lahmers, Area 3 and Mexico Business Director for SSMC.
