Select Sires Member Cooperative (SSMC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Cole Pond to Order Fulfillment Specialist in the cooperative’s Ohio location. In this role, Cole will play a vital role in ensuring the timely and accurate packing of outgoing orders, with a strong focus on inventory management and shipping coordination.
Cole is very familiar with SSMC, he served as an intern in 2022, focusing on growing his reproductive skills and knowledge. Since graduation, he has served as a part-time relief A.I. technician for the cooperative in central Ohio.
“With the tremendous growth our cooperative has seen over the past two years, there was a need to expand our distribution team. Cole brings a wealth of genetic knowledge to our team. With his understanding of both production and show-type, we can rely on Cole to answer customer calls concerning dairy genetics. He also has a great understanding of our feed additives, calf products, reproductive supplies, as well as the reproductive process which will assist coworkers and customers. Cole’s background as a relief technician is also valuable as he understands the importance of accuracy in order packing,” shared Chad Walker, Manager of Distribution, Operations, and Logistics for Select Sires Member Cooperative.
Cole was raised on a farm in west central Ohio and has enjoyed exhibiting cattle at the state and national level. Currently, Cole owns and milks 20 head of Holsteins and Jerseys.
Cole graduated from The Ohio State University and majored in Agribusiness and minored in Dairy Science. He gained more knowledge about the registered Holstein industry and the marketing of top genetics when he worked for Luck-E Holsteins in Hampshire, Ill., and Ocean-View Genetics in Deerfield, Wisc.
“I am looking forward to helping our sales and technician team in the field get the semen and supplies they need to help our member-owners continue to thrive in their operations,” shared Cole.
