J.R. Fisher promoted to Account Manager for SSMC

June 16, 2025 – Select Sires Member Cooperative (SSMC) is pleased to announce the promotion of J.R. Fisher to Account Manager. In this role, J.R. will be responsible for a direct sales route, working with both dairy and beef customers in East Texas, a territory previously served by Donald Lawson, who is retiring after 37 years.

He began his career with SSMC three years ago as a Genetic and Reproductive Advisor. Previously he served as a salesperson and professional A.I. technician in a relief role for All-West Select Sires (now part of SSMC) in Washington for nine years, where he earned recognition as a Select Sires President’s Club member and as a Super Achiever. In addition, J.R. gained valuable experience as a dairy herdsman in the western United States early in his career.

J.R.’s skills include a deep understanding of herd health and reproductive management protocols, as well as PCDART and DairyComp herd management software programs. “These skills are a great resource for the customers J.R. serves,” shared Rodney Wegener, Area 5 Business Director.

J.R. earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science from Texas A&M University - College Station and served as President of the Dairy Science Club.
